Dr. William I. Helling 
Veterinarian/Owner

 

Dr. Bill Helling graduated with distinction from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. He completed his undergrad work at Southeastern Community College and Iowa State University. After graduation, he and his wife, Angie, moved to Keosauqua and he began practicing at the Keosauqua Veterinary Clinic. His professional interests include working cattle, equine medicine, small animal surgeries, and obstetrics.

 

Dr. Helling is a native of Denmark, Iowa. He and Angie have 3 children - Kati, Vaughn, and Connor. The Helling family have 4 dogs - Fish (Australian Shepherd), Duchess (mixed breed), Norman and Buella (both Australian Shepherd/Schnauzer mix). Their personal interests include breeding and raising American Quarter Horses, motorcycle riding, traveling, and horseback riding. Their stud, Texas Dan SK, is the pride and joy of their horse operation. Dr. Helling is a member of the Keosauqua Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He was the recipient of the Farm Bureau Service to Agriculture Award in 2008.

Lauren
Veterinary Technician & Office Manager

 

Lauren graduated from Indian Hills Community College with an AA in 2012. She grew up in Keosauqua, Iowa and graduated from Fairfield Christian School in 2005. Lauren was previously employed with the Keosauqua Veterinary Clinic from 2004-2010 and returned in 2015 as our groomer. She came back full time in February 2016 and we are happy she's returned! Lauren's professional interests include helping sick and injured patients make full recoveries as well as making sure that neglected and abused animals find their happy ever after. 

When not helping sick and injured animals, Lauren enjoys being outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, riding horses, photography, watching the Yankees play, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is also a driver for the Van Buren County Ambulance Service.

Sheridan

Veterinary Technician

     Sheridan grew up in Keosauqua.  She is a Van Buren graduate in the class of 2016.  She started working for us in the Fall of 2019.  Her professional interests include assisting Dr Helling with large animal calls, helping out with surgeries, and helping with emergency cases.

     Outside of work Sheridian enjoys being outdoors, boating on the river, and spending time with her family.  She has a variety of farm animals that keep her busy.  She also has a 2 year old daughter names Hadlee and is also expecting twin daughters in October 2023.
